Brexit FAQs

These FAQs may be amended to reflect changes in the negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Outgoing mobility for students from the University of Lille

The British government has created its own exchange programme: Turing. For the moment, this program provides funding for outgoing mobilities only: students enrolled in British universities.

As the University of Lille wishes to continue student exchanges with British partners, we will do our best to put in place bilateral agreements and exchange agreements valid from September 2023.

For study stays of less than 6 months, it will not be necessary to apply for a visa, but you will need to present a valid passport for the duration of your stay. Please, however, check the UK entry requirements and find out what you can and cannot do while in the UK:

You will need a visa if you are going for a full year of study, you must apply according to the procedure indicated on the UK government website:
https://www.gov.uk/student-visa

You may also use this tool to verify if you need a visa, depending on your situation: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

Incoming mobility students from the United Kingdom

Students from the United Kingdom will always be welcomed at the University of Lille, in accordance with the rules for entering and staying on French territory.

Outgoing mobility for staff from the University of Lille

Erasmus+ funding can be used in 2021. If language courses are offered by British institutions/universities, you have the possibility to apply. Beyond 2021, other sources of funding will have to be found.

Research and training projects involving the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is leaving the Erasmus programme and so will no longer be able to participate as a full partner in training projects. However, potential participation in cooperative partnerships as an external partner could be negotiated in the future, but no tangible information about this is yet available. We will update the answer to this question as soon as we receive more details.
