Come to learn french

At the University of Lille, most classes are taught in French and most exams are also taken in French in writing. A good level of French is therefore required to come to study at the University: level B2 of the Common European Framework of the Reference for Languages. If you do not have this level of proficiency, you are advised to take French lessons before coming to study here: you will find all the information you need on this page.

French classes for exchange students

The University of Lille offers French lessons to its International exchange students: an intensive week before the beginning of the semester, and extensive courses during the semester. They are free of charge and the extensive courses can give you European credits (ECTS) if your University of origin and your timetable allow it.
Classes are held at the Department of International French teaching (Defi) on the Pont de Bois campus, and at the Maison des Langues on the Cité Scientifique campus.
